Up to 17 trains will run between Ukraine and Poland during the final part of the European Football Championship this year, and they will transport around 9,000 passengers, Polish Railway Communications (PKP Intercity) Director Janusz Malinowski has said.
“In line with plans, 17 trains will run to Ukraine every day during the championship. Most of them will run through the Dorohusk-Yahodyn (Volyn Region) and Przemyśl-Yahodyn (Lviv Region) checkpoints. Trains will be able to transport around 9,000 passengers every day altogether,” the Polish Press Agency quotes Malinowski as saying.
According to him, detailed railway timetable for the period of the 2012 European Championship is likely to be known in March. “There are all chances that the timetable for Euro-2012 will be ready in March, and thanks to this it would be possible to start selling tickets three months before the beginning of the championship,” Polish railway chief has emphasized.

He has also noted that consultations between representatives of carriers from different countries with regard to formation of international routes will be held first. After their formation, railway traffic within the country, and finally regional and local communications, will be coordinated. Special attention will be focused on railway timetable during Euro-2012 in coordination with international partners, he stated.
